M/V Aransas Pass during seatrials

July 10, 2010
Dulac, Louisiana – Higman Marine Services of Houston, Texas, took delivery of its newest vessel, the M/V Aransas Pass.  The vessel was built in 5 months by Hope Shipyard, located in Dulac, Louisiana.  The pushboat is slightly larger than previous vessels built for Higman, measuring 78’ by 32’ with a 10’ depth and joins the Higman fleet as the sister vessel to the M/V Red Fish.
The M/V Aransas Pass headed out from Hope’s fabrication yard on the Houma Navigational Waterway after a quick delivery to meet up with her first tow.  The M/V Aransas Pass is equipped with 2,000 hp engines and the hull has tankage for 20,000 gallons of fuel, 10,000 gallons of fresh water and 6,000 gallons of potable water.
Hope Shipyard will deliver two more vessels to Higman Marine later this year that are larger boats measuring 78’x34’.
The shipyard has earned a reputation in the industry for producing quality vessels with on time delivery.
